Seven days, 75 miles
Perhaps attempting to do 100 miles was a bit too much, but I did get to the 75 mile mark. Partially I did not finish because it rained the last two days, but the real reason was my knees. The muscles were holding out perfectly, barely a sign of any soreness, but the kneecaps would hurt as I would walk up the stairs, and to me that was a clear sign of over-training. I still prodded on, and completed as much as my legs would take me. Yesterday (Sunday) I did a very easy 5 miles, slept during the day and minimized my walking, and this morning my kneecaps no longer hurt, but I would have to make up a full marathon in one day to catch up to the mark I set, in 8 days, in pain. No thank you. What I think of doing is starting a weight training program to increase strength and agility, get back on the bike, rehab the legs from all the pounding, and start thinking of the Ironman training.
