The Long Run

A lot has changed in this household. Within the span of just a few days we came to a few conclusions about certain things. Some of them had to do with my sister, some with regarding Sam's parents. And yet some regarding our own future children. But in the end, we're on the same page and a closer family. I personally am feeling a bit torn apart about certain decisions yet still, and sometimes I wish that I was away from New York City, living on a small farm out in the Santa Cruz mountains. Waking up in the morning and going out for a good run, or a swim with the local swimmers, or hitting the Eureka canyon on the bike. But we're here now, desperately trying to make sense of the circumstances in which were in. And in the meantime, as I've said earlier I have a Marathon to keep my distracted mind on in November, a possible "fun" marathon in the summer or late spring, and possibly even Chicago next fall. Here's how it has been looking so far:
Yesterday I went out for a long run, where my job was to do 18 miles, with the last 12 miles at marathon pace. I wound up doing first 6 at 9 mins/mile, then next 7 miles sub 8, two of which were at 7:30 and a cool down. I felt pretty good, but spent, and basically done enough damage to consider yesterday a half marathon "tune up race." At mile 10 or 11, I had Sam catch up to me on the bike on an easy spin after his hard effort during last weeks marathon. He was passing me water and keeping me company, it was of so much help. One of the best long run experiences ever actually. :)
